The Paint
Quality Institute was founded in 1989 in Philadelphia, USA
to educate people on the advantages of using high quality
interior and exterior paints and coatings. Initially focussed
on the North American region, the institute has now expanded
to cover the main regions of the world — Europe, Latin
America and Asia Pacific.
The expertise offered by the site is partly based on the in-depth
experience and understanding of the paint industry offered
by the PQI team, details below.
It is also founded on the practical learnings generated by
the Institute’s broad range of test sites. These are
located in 14 different sites worldwide — again, details
below — and consist of over 30,000 panels painted with
over 100,000 different paint formulations. These formulations
are exposed continuously to real life conditions and the impact
of this exposure monitored over time.
