This technique is an excellent confidence booster for those introducing themselves to paint effects.

The idea is to paint the stamp with a small roller and then simply position the stamp onto the wall using firm pressure so that the entire stamp has made contact with the surface.

Stamps come in a variety of sizes from 1 cm square to 15 cm square.

RECIPE: Acrylic stencil paint
INGREDIENTS: Stamps or block – small sponge roller – dish – stencil paint – tape measure – chalk – ladder
LEVEL OF EXPERTISE: 1 star
1 star = extremely simple, 5 stars = not so straightforward
TIME REQUIRED: For a 2.5 x 3m wall, approximately 1 hour.
SUITABLE AREAS: This effect is suitable for all areas walls, furniture and fabric.

TECHNIQUE

Step 1: Paint the basecoat using acrylic emulsion paint and leave to dry overnight.

Step 2: Decant a small amount of the stencil paint into a plate.

Step 3: Using a small 1 inch roller apply the paint evenly to the stamp and position the stamp firmly onto the wall.

TIP: Test on paper to gauge how much pressure is necessary before stamping the entire wall. Also if you make a mistake in positioning the stamp incorrectly, simply remove with a damp cloth immediately, and leave to dry before repositioning the stamp.
