Fewer brush marks |

Paint flows more easily |
 |
Less spattering |
 |
Less "sagging" (a nasty line of joined-up
paint drops that builds when you inadvertently apply too
much to the surface) |
|
Because high quality paint is made with better performing ingredients,
and often including the latest water-based acrylic polymer technology,
it is far easier to handle when applying. Meaning that the paint
flows easily and smoothly when applied, you are much less likely
to end up with any visible brush marks, you'll have fewer unwanted
drips, or "sagging" as it's referred to in the trade.
The resulting finish will look much sleeker and smoother. Also,
high quality paint doesn't spatter, which if you're painting the
ceiling is of course a great advantage. this leaves the dried end
result looking excellent.

Where
great application is really important: Drips are a common
problem for gloss paint of all sheens, which is often used for
wooden surfaces, such as doors or window frames, so it's definitely
worth paying a little more for these jobs. Getting an even finish
with no streaks is again key when it comes to doing larger,
prominent surfaces such as walls and ceilings. |
What
is the benefit of good application? For many of us, standing
back and admiring our handiwork only to spot drips running down
the hinge of a door is extremely frustrating. Not to mention
the irritation if you fail to spot the drip before it dries.
Good application means the paint will apply easily, with less
mess and the finish will look aesthetically satisfying, like
a professional job. |
