Better grease resistance
Better Stain and dirt resistance
Easier Stain removability
Better Scrub resistance

Buying a top quality paint is a good way to minimise the number of touch up jobs you'll have to do because of dirt or stains. Not only does high quality paint have a greater ability to resist picking up dirt, but when you do have a stain or dirt mark you need to get rid of, it will come off more easily.

For areas around light switches and door handles where the paint immediately surrounding can easily become marked with sticky fingerprints, investing in a top quality paint is worth it. Potential grease marks are far less likely to show up in the first place.

When a more persistent or nasty mark looks like trouble on your paint work, wiping the surface using household cleaners may be a necessary last resort. But: will tackling this remove half the paint as well? Few paints can withstand persistent scrubbing, but acrylic paints are often better, because not only do they stick well to the surface, they also don’t leave behind major tell tale shiny scrub marks when cleaned.

Finally, for those who burn candles, smoke or have dust coming from chimneys , investing in a quality acrylic paint is a good way to ensure that the slight yellowing that can easily start to become visible especially on white ceilings and pale coloured walls around the smoke area doesn't become a permanent feature. Speciality acrylic paints can be formulated to be resistant to discoloration from tobacco smoke.

Where is good scrub and stain resistance really important?: Obviously, key areas are those that are exposed to either a lot of wear and tear, such as hallways, but also rooms where there is a high likelihood of stains and smudges such as the kitchen. All painted woodwork can look poor once badly scuffed or showing chipped paint, so think about acrylic paints for things like skirting boards, doors and door surrounds.

What is the benefit of good scrub and stain resistance? Being able to wipe off stains, scuff marks and dirt means your surfaces stay looking good longer and you don't need to repaint so often or continually do touch-up jobs.
