Colour maintains its original tone longer
Less yellowing
Alkali resistance (as often contained in household cleaners)

Colour is for most of us one of the key parameters when it comes to buying a paint. What is perhaps not considered by so many is how using a top quality paint will make the colour last longer - significantly increasing the pleasure we get from the wonderful finish through the years. High quality paints made with acrylic technology allow the colour to maintain its original tone and sheen for longer.

This is worth bearing in mind not just for the exteriors of your home where paints are exposed to severe UV intensity, but also inside the house where there is lots of sunlight coming through. If it's a white paint you want for a particular surface, then again, think seriously about how fast you are prepared to see the initial brilliance wear off. Paints (especially white) made with high quality acrylic polymers resist going yellow.

Household cleaning fluids are also something you need to see as an "enemy" of paint colour and sheen – they often contain alkali which can attack the paint film integrity which will affect the colour of paint. Again, acrylic paints are formulated to be resistant to this.

NOTE: Most paints come ready mixed. If you are looking to tint or have a customised colour made, make sure the right pigments are used (ie exterior pigments should be used for paints intended for use outside).

Where is lasting colour really important? Anywhere, really, where you're particularly keen on a colour retaining its original sheen, brightness and brilliance. Think particularly about which areas most exposed to the sun, as the UV rays are responsible in part in accelerating the break down of the paint film, leading to fading.

What is the benefit of lasting colour? Very simple – the great new colour you painted your home with recently stays looking great longer. Less fading and longer lasting brilliance.
