Better "block resistance" (a window "blocks"
when its freshly painted dry surface is still sticky,
meaning that when you close it it tends to be tacky on
re-opening) |

Mildew resistance |

Better hot dirt pick-up resistance |

There are a few important additional areas where using a top quality
paint can have a real impact on the end result. |
|
 |
"Blocking"
is what happens when freshly dried paint is still sticky to a degree
that it gets stuck when pressed against another surface and the paint
film comes off. Windows, but also doors are areas where this can happen
all too easily. The good news it that this can improved by using a
top quality acrylic paint, where the technology is characteristically
"block resistant" the surface is less tacky, and
shouldn't get stuck. Mildew
is an area that most of us would not like to associate with our home,
inside or out. But in areas of high humidity, such as the bathroom,
or with areas constantly exposed to the rain and the elements such
as exterior walls, this can indeed be a problem. On exterior surfaces,
cheaper paints are less resistant making them more prone to mildew
or algae growth. "Hot dirt
pick up resistance" refers to warm surfaces such as radiators,
and are sometimes not that easy either to clean properly or to paint.
They tend to pick up dirt more quickly, and also to yellow if originally
white. To help prevent this sort of problem, using a high quality specially
formulated paint made with pure acrylic technology should help.
