a Quality Paint > Why
Is Quality Important? |
Fair
question, you may think why is quality important? In
today's world, many of us tend to take quality for granted
when buying a paint. We can be so bowled over by a colour
we like, that we throw care to the wind and simply buy it
never mind what type of surface it is going to have
to cover. We also use our experience of a particular product,
or we simply trust in a certain brand.
We also like to save money where we can. When we think we
have two similar products, we often opt for the cheaper product,
feeling good about having saved money.
This type of mind-set is certainly understandable, but it
can very often lead to severe disappointment later on
We buy the wrong type of paint for our kitchen. We find the
paint is not easy to apply, or the coverage poor. |

| As a rule of thumb, a high quality
paint invariably offers the best value. This is our mantra
at the Rohm and Haas Paint Quality Institute and comes from
decades of experience in the category around the world. Scrimping
and saving on paint can all too easily lead to your very own
DIY paint disaster. |

Paints
come in two basic types for interior use and exterior use.
The demands on the exterior product are greater due to
weather factors.
A top quality paint will offer you the following advantages: |
Interior
They resist stains, are washable and easy to keep clean
They go on smoothly and evenly
They tend to cover better
They're more durable |
Exterior
They go on smoothly and evenly
They tend to cover better
They resist cracking and flaking
They deter dirt pick up and resist mould growth
They keep their colour for longer
They adhere better to the surface and are more durable
|
|
In addition, many high quality
paints are made with state of the art water-borne solvent
free acrylic polymers. They give off little odour and dry
more quickly, so you can get your room back in use sooner
rather than later.
To help you understand how quality can be relevant to your
paint job, we've summarised the 6 or so key benefits
quality paints offer and how they relate to particular tasks.
