| These act as surface polish colouring and providing a surface polish
which would need to be refreshed from time to time.
Wax comes in either block or liquid form. Applied by rag
it offer little resistance to heat or scratches and need frequent
maintenance coats.
Oils are penetrative and applied by brush or rag, and rubbed
in to seal hardwoods (not appropriate for softwoods discolour
and get dirty). The finish gives good moisture resistance but resistance
to spills and heat is poor and gloss levels not high.
